Wedding of Joanna & Phil at Canada Lodge & Lake, Cardiff

Last Saturday morning I headed off to document the wedding of Jo and Phil at Canada Lodge & Lake, Cardiff.  Jo and members of her family had stayed at the lodge the night before.  I entered the lodge to lots of activity with hair and make-up being done.  The lovely Catherine Ann MUA was busy making the ladies look stunning. Jo’s friend Ian Davies-Emrus (owned Ocean Salon) was creating their fabulous hair-styles.

Jo & Phil had planned a very glamorous 1920’s Gatsby themed wedding.  I’m talking long gloves, feathers, pearls, headbands, furs, sequins and tassels! Everyone looked amazing! Jo was walked down the aisle by Benjamin her 14 year old son and her gorgeous mum Sue.  Music was being played by the fabulous Cambria String Quartet.  After the ceremony and signing the register, we unfortunately had to do the majority of the photos indoors due to the cold and rain.  The venue were fab even allowing us to do the confetti pics indoors!  🙂  I did manage to persuade a few brave guests to venture out into the cold for a quick photo.  Many had travelled a great distance from other countries including Spain, Canada, Dubai and Germany for this wedding.

The guests eventually made their way downstairs for a lovely three course meal.  The room set-up looked fabulous!   After the meal, there were speeches by James the best man and Phil’s brother, the groom himself – and finally the bride!  🙂  There were quite a few children at the wedding and Jo had thoughtfully provided some children’s activities and games in a quiet corner for the little ones to entertain themselves. In fairness they were all impeccably behaved throughout the day! Jo was such a fabulous chilled bride, she even allowed her new hubby and the boys to watch the Wales rugby game! There was also a fabulous magician Brett Sirrel entertaining the guests along with a photo-booth, sweet-corner and DJ.

Jo & Phil are a gorgeous, fun couple – even the first dance was fun!  They were soon joined on the dance-floor by family and friends.  Guys, I wish you both every happiness for the future.  It was a gorgeous wedding at a fabulous venue (despite the weather!)

Below are just a small selection of the many hundreds of photos taken last Saturday:
