Wedding of Claire & Iain at The Old Rectory

On Saturday morning I drove to The Old Rectory in Llangattock, Crickhowell for the wedding of Claire and Iain. Two days previously I’d received a phone call from Claire’s lovely mum Jane. Claire is originally a local girl but moved to Australia a few years ago where she met Iain. This lovely couple had come back to the UK for their wedding having already had a ceremony in Oz. Unfortunately they were let down last minute by their booked photographer but still wanted to document this very important occasion. Due to the current global pandemic, their guest numbers were already down to a minimum. It was a beautiful sunny day and I found Claire and her bridesmaids up in her suite. The lovely girls from Bridal Beauty Wales in Usk were busy doing hair and make-up.

Claire’s three gorgeous sisters were to be her bridesmaids joined by best friend Sam. Iain’s neice Aoife was to be their little flower-girl – and she was such a cutie! Whilst hair and make-up was ongoing, I had gone down to meet the boys – who looked exceptionally dapper. Iain’s Dad Bob is Scottish (& mum Irish!) so he was wearing a kilt! I absolutely loved the emerald green colour scheme – a lovely change. Claire and Iain were originally having a blessing in the local church down the road. However since landing in the UK, all places of worship have been closed down. The staff at The Old Rectory were awesome and quickly re-scheduled a room for their blessing. The minister then came over to the venue instead. Claire looked absolutely stunning and surprised Iain by wearing a new dress she had sneaked over on the plane!

RECEPTION:

After a lovely ceremony, welcome drinks and canapés, we spilled out into the sunshine for photos. This fabulous venue has centuries of history behind it. I loved the fact there is a six hundred year-old tree out the front of The Old Rectory … if only it could talk! Later the family and close friends in attendance moved upstairs in preparation for the reception. After some very funny speeches, everyone enjoyed a fabulous three-course meal. As the venue were already on a skeleton staff, they all worked so hard and provided a superb service. The band ‘Soul’d Out‘ joined everyone in the evening ready for a fabulous night ahead. For those that didn’t know Claire had worn a different dress in Oz, she changed into her original dress for their first dance. Iain and Claire had been practising a choreographed routine … which was awesome! It was over too quickly and I wished I could watch it all over again! Well done guys! 🙂

Despite this current global ongoing situation, Claire and Iain had a gorgeous wedding day at The Old Rectory. They were told they had to fly back to Oz on Monday. However, due to issues with their stop-over, I believe they have been delayed a few days. I wish you both a very safe journey home to Australia and hope you love the selection of pics I’ve chosen for your blog 🙂
