Wedding at West Usk Lighthouse for Lucie & Dan

Recent fun-packed wedding at the beautiful West Usk Lighthouse in Newport for Lucie & Dan. This lovely couple actually now live in Norfolk but have family in the area.  When I first chatted to them, they described their plans for a relaxed, quirky, retro wedding.  West Usk Lighthouse fitted their vibe perfectly!  They are also keen Wes Anderson fans. For those who don’t know, Wes Anderson is an American film-maker and Director.  He has a very distinctive film style which many have tried to reproduce in photos.  Lucie & Dan asked if some of their wedding photos could reflect that quirky, colourful (often vintage-looking) style with some very deliberate, stoic poses.

I met Dan along with family and friends at the lighthouse before Lucie arrived.  The marquee looked fabulous – really colourful with flowers and bunting.  When Lucie arrived, I loved her quirky style.  She was wearing floral Dr Marten boots underneath her wedding dress.  She had picked and arranged her own bridal bouquet and made the dried-flower hair crown herself!  The ceremony was beautiful as both Lucie and Dan had written their own vows to each other. With ceremony complete, they literally danced their way down the aisle!

We were blessed with good weather so were soon back outside for photos.  Lucie and Dan had requested to be allowed to have a few photos inside the Lighthouse(which is actually the owners home now).  I’d never been inside before so it was a real treat and I was in my elements!  We crept up a very narrow curved staircase to the top of the lighthouse where there was a fab view!

Later that evening, Lucie and Dan had arranged another reception at The Bank in Newbridge (which has recently closed).  It is a small venue on various floors.  Until recently it would often host music nights the top floor. Unfortunately by the evening, it was pouring with rain so everyone mingled indoors.  A lovely buffet had been organised by the venue and after cutting of the cake and first dance, I left Lucie & Dan to enjoy the rest of their evening.  I hope you’ll enjoy seeing a selection of photos from their wedding day below:
