Wedding of Nayarah & Jake

Last Thursday I had the pleasure of photographing the gorgeous wedding of Nayarah and Jake. The beautiful bridal flowers had been delivered by the time I arrived at Nayarah’s family home. Her hairdresser had already worked her magic and left – I loved the Boho flower hair-crown. The glamorous bridesmaids Cerys and Emily have been ‘besties’ with Nayarah since school-days. Family friend Neil (and Jake’s step-granddad) was patiently waiting outside to drive Nayarah to Tredegar Registry Office.

2021 Pandemic Wedding Ceremony:

Due to continuing government restrictions, only 15 guests are currently allowed indoors. The ceremony was held in the smallest room I’ve seen yet – it was literally only big enough for the two registrars, Jake, Nayarah and both their mums. I photographed into the room stood outside! Before we knew it, Jake and Nayarah were pronounced husband and wife! Both the mums – Andrea and Donna – were witnesses for the marriage certificate. We then headed outdoors into the glorious April sunshine. A bottle of champagne was popped and after refreshment for the happy couple, we set off for some photos in the stunning grounds of Bedwellty House. This was my very first wedding of 2021 due to lockdown, so I was thrilled we had fabulous weather – and a gorgeous couple to photograph!

After leaving Bewellty House, we headed back to Jake’s family home in Ebbw Vale. Jake’s dad Paul and step-mum Joanne had prepared a fabulous ‘reception’ meal in their home for the few allowed to go in. Pandemic restrictions have prevented so many couples having a larger wedding. However a small, simple yet beautiful wedding like this one proves you don’t have to spend a fortune on your wedding day. It really was so relaxed and family-oriented.

Jake and Nayarah – I wish you every happiness together and a very long and happy marriage. I hope you enjoy looking at a selection of the photos from your ‘Big Day’ below:
